TOP 5 MUST HAVE ITEMS FOR A SICK BABY

Having a sick baby is THE worst! It breaks your heart and it can be stressful. Here are my my top must haves with a sick baby (or any child)! These have been life-savers for me!

PS be sure to stay home if you wouldn't want your child around those symptoms! Mom's really appreciate that, especially when you have a newborn, child with a weak immune system, rare disorder or disease.

1. ESSENTIAL OILS

If you've never used essential oils, you need to! They are amazing!

The first time I used them was when my oldest was a baby, he's 2 now. He was so congested, it was the worst. I was trying everything. Running the hot shower, trying to use that dumb blue bulb they give you from the hospital. Nothing was helping.

One of my Mom's friends gave me a little starter essential oils kit (pictured above!) with Lavender, Lemon, and Peppermint. My friend told me to mix a little of each one with some coconut oil and rub them on his feet. I did that night. The next day you couldn't even tell he was congested!! It was AMAZING! I've used doTERRA essential oils ever since! Made me a HUGE believer!

The oils I use the most are OnGuard, Breathe, Lavender, Lemon, Melaleuca, & Peppermint. Click each oil to learn more!

I love the pre-made, pre-dilluated rollers they have! They are perfect for sick babies. You just roll a little bit on their feet. Less is more with oils especially with babies. You don't need to use a lot at all. But these rollers are perfect because they're already diluted so you don't have to worry about that. Found a picture on Google so you can see what they look like below.

Find a friend that is a Wellness Advocate and get some!!

2. DIFFUSER

The next thing you need that goes along with the essential oils, is a diffuser! The easiest way to use oils. You fill it up with water, drop 2-3 drops in and turn it on. I have two and LOVE them! I use them all. the. time. Not just when we're sick. It helps us stay healthy by diffusing OnGuard and our house smells so good!

"The sense of smell is a tool that can elicit powerful physiologic, mental, and emotional responses. Essential oils are quickly absorbed by the smell receptors, which have a direct link to the limbic system by way of the olfactory nerve. The limbic system is part of the brain that supports a variety of functions including smell, emotions, behavior, and memory. For this reason, essential oils have an especially powerful effect via aromatic application.

Some essential oils induce uplifting or invigorating effects, while others are more calming. Diffusion is one of the simplest methods for using essential oils aromatically. Diffusers that use cold air or water are ideal. However, using essential oils aromatically does not require any special diffusing devices.

You can achieve the same health benefits by simply placing a few drops of essential oil in the palm of your hand that is then cupped around the nose as you breathe deeply."

This is the first diffuser I bought and I also have one like this pictured below.

3. NOSE FRIDA

Have you heard of it?? It's a MUST HAVE for all Mom's! Seriously. This thing rocks! If boogers gross you out... sorry! But this thing works!

I do not like those blue bulbs they use at the hospital. They don't work, you can't see if you even got anything out, AND you can't clean them. YUCK! This one works SO good. You can see what you got and you can clean it! It barely gets in the tube so you DO NOT have to worry about getting any boogers anywhere your mouth, I promise. Plus there's a filter, that top piece, plus the big long tube... Not a chance! ;)

Definitely put this on your baby shower list or purchase one here.

4. HUMIDIFER

We have really dry air in Utah so a humidifier really helps to put some moisture back in the air. I recommend getting one without a filter so you don't have to worry about that.

I got mine from Walgreen's but this looks like a great one too.

5. ROCK-N-PLAY

I love this thing! Both of my babies have slept in it by my bed for the first couple of months. It's light, easy to move around, and I like how it keeps them upright. Especially with a newborn. So you can imagine how nice this is when they're sick to keep them upright.

They're all fancy now, with vibrations or they'll even rock. You could try those things just be aware to not overstimulate your baby.

Get one here.

If you come to my house you will see ALL of these things above, especially when we're sick! Hope this is helpful for you!

Good luck Momma!

PS I haven't been really sick since I was pregnant with my first, OVER 2 years ago!! The only thing that's changed is that I use oils. Yep, HUGE believer over here! ;)

Thanks for reading!

xoxo
